I will be letting my fans know that, due to circumstances outside of my control, I will not be at Khoury’s restaurant this weekend. It seems that the manager booked a big party during our time slot and bumped us.
In addition, I’d like to let my fans know that my immediate family is visiting from St. Louis, arriving in the next hour, and will be here for a week. Most of my meetings with new clients will, if possible, be postponed until afterwards. All current students have also been notified.
Thank you for understanding.
I could make a joke about how many tenors I’ve known that are mad, but I’ll keep it to myself.
Anyways, the newest video is up over on the Performance page. It’s my house band gig at Khoury’s Restaurant at Alamitos Bay here in Long Beach. Great local establishment, it’s a jazz and champagne brunch with a nice buffet offering and a cool atmosphere. It’s also right on the water, too – the dining room opens up to an outside patio that is connected to a dock. The view is beautiful from stage, and it’s just enough on the land itself that I don’t get seasick while playing. At least, from where I’m playing. I’m there nearly every Sunday at around 1:30pm or so, depending on if there’s an early event later that night. If there is, we sometimes start sooner to get out of the way.
Performing in the video:
Robert – Guitar (1st solo)
Steven – Tenor Sax (Head), Flute (2nd solo) – Bandleader
Gaston – Guitar (3rd solo)
Victor – Keyboards (4th)
Yours Truly – Bass Guitar (5th)
Andre – Drums
I apologize that I’m mostly eclipsed in the visuals by Steven, but you can see enough of me, and hear enough of me. I’m pretty proud of that solo, actually. Besides, I’d ultimately like to get at least one tune in each genre on the performance page. There’s your Blues, as well as my Classical and Latin, though the Latin is so Rock that I may bump it for a Latin jazz if I get a good recording. Unless you’d like one of each? Let me know, my comments are (mostly) open!*

Just a heads up that all of my tutorial videos have been uploaded, are live on YouTube, and embedded into the Teacher Page here and on my TakeLessons.com profile.
This might be a good place to mention that I even have a profile. I’ve been hired as a contractor for that site, which means I passed their criminal background and references checks as a teacher. There are some great features available through them, including scheduling tools and billing options (such as credit cards) that I can’t do in person. If that sounds like something you’d be interested in, by all means, please take a look at the profile there:
Now that I’ve got the bulk of my initial vision for the site complete, these blog posts will probably take a turn into professional highlights, such as any new performance videos, or updates. I’ll keep you posted.
Today’s video shoot went very well. I’m currently in the process of uploading each one over on the Teacher page. They’re going onto YouTube first, and getting embedded into the page as soon as they’re available, which I have to do manually. Guitar is already done, bass guitar is underway, and the string bass video will require a bit more edit work, but it should be done by Monday.
All video credit goes to my dear wife. Thank you so much, my angel!
Just an update from earlier today. I believe we’re updated to the new host, with everything for the most part surviving the trip. Let’s see how it goes from here? Tomorrow is my designated day to film the tutorial videos with my wife, Elizabeth. If you didn’t already know, Elizabeth is a photographer, and she’s been building up her works through her tumblr.
